In 1977,
founder Walt Brock decided to add a temporary shade to the dining room in
Rivertown. As camps grew, the shade was enclosed to make more dining
space for additional campers. The shade turned dining room has also
served as the General Store (snack shop), staff dining room buffet area,
game room, and Pony Espresso. The roof of the original shade kept the
sun out but did not do a very good job of keeping rain out. So during
the winter of 2004, the
temporary shade was torn down, the Pony Espresso expanded, and the roof
replaced. The completed
expansion has provided much more room for those visiting the Pony Espresso
and for those making all the fruit smoothies and Mojave Blenders!
